The textile business gave birth
to a brand that is an American Tradition the past 150 years.
Americans dared to dream of a resolve to conflict with the ending
of a war that divided the American fabric for generations to
come.
The Diamond Family gave to the
rebirth of a nation, the growth of industry, the great depression,
electricity, automobiles, radio, television, flight, and the
introduction of telephones.
We faced the Antebellum Period
and Civil War with a resolute to be both honest and brave. We
were guided through Reconstruction and the Gilded Age of a Gold
Rush, General Custer's defeat, the Depression of 1884, Wounded
Knee, and the completion of the Great Northern Railroad. We
faced strife with the assassination of President McKinley, Would
War I, Selective Service Act, and the 18th Amendment outlawing
the buying, selling, and transporting of liquor.
The 1920's granted women's suffrage,
Lindbergh's solo flight across the Atlantic, Babe Ruth's 60 home
runs, and the stock market crash. We faced the challenges of
the Great Depression and World War II, Franklin Roosevelt was
elected president, prohibition repealed, a bank holiday proclaimed,
the Securities and Exchange Commission established. Huey Long
was assassinated, Germany invades Poland, World War II begins,
and Japan attacks Pearl Harbor. Allies invade Italy, Roosevelt
elected for fourth term, Truman succeeds Roosevelt, Hitler commits
suicide, Germany surrenders, and U.S. drops atomic bombs on Hiroshima
and Nagasaki, Japan surrenders, and the United Nations are founded.
We welcome Postwar America with
Jackie Robinson breaking the color line in baseball, Korean War,
Sputnik, Castro takes over Cuba, J.F. Kennedy elected president,
Berlin Wall built, and the first black student (James Meredith)
attends University of Mississippi.
The 1960's continued with Birmingham
desegregation crusade, Civil Rights march on Washington, President
Kennedy assassinated in Dallas, American combat troops sent to
Vietnam, Neil Armstrong walks on the moon, and the Woodstock
Music Festival.
Contemporary America is resolute
to uphold righteousness by deed and by work accepting the resignations
of Vice-President Agnew and President Nixon, the fall of South
Vietnam, unemployment surpasses 10%, Iraq invades Kuwait, Operation
Desert Strom, and President Clinton announces first balanced
budget in 20 years.
The 21st century began with an
early test of true national greatness. We faced September 11th
and the world by example. The test of our moral and physical
limitations, we greeted challenges head on and demonstrated by
work and actions that we would face American's enemies with integrity
and bravery around the clock around the world.
We realized the dream electing
Barack Hussein Obama the first African-American president of
the United States of America.
The legend of Tommy Diamond will
continue for decades to come as the fabric of American Dreams
continues to be woven together in the true "American Tradition." |
